Desert Door Texas Sotol originates from the arid landscapes of West Texas, where our founders first encountered the Sotol plant. Centuries ago, Indigenous tribes utilized this resilient desert succulent for various purposes, ranging from tools and food to crafting fermented beverages.
Our spirit, named "Sotol," is not only derived from the plant but also embodies our commitment to sustainable practices. We exclusively wild-harvest all our Sotol from ranches scattered across Texas. Unlike traditional farming methods, we refrain from cultivation, opting for a more eco-friendly approach. TASTING NOTES
While it’s not an agave spirit, our Desert Door Original is a lot like a premium tequila on the nose, with bright notes of vanilla and green grass. But here the similarities end. Tasting reveals flavors like toffee, mint, and orange zest. The finish is custard-smooth - smoother than tequila - with subtle hints of sage.
